Modern Classic

I saw her at the thrift store. She didn't stand out much, but I had a vision for her.

She had great lines. Great curves.

But she looked tired. She needed a facelift.

Her seat, once a pretty needlepoint, was scratched and ripped.

Here is my vision completed:

She got refreshed with a couple of coats of ASCP French Linen, clear wax and dark wax.

The dark wax really accentuates the lines and the curves.

Her needlepoint seat got recovered with a fresh, modern fabric.

The needlepoint is still there underneath, a nod to her past, perhaps to be rediscovered and recovered in another era, when she needs another facelift.

Everything old is new again.

Don't you wish it was that easy to look young once again?

  3. That is so much better! Love the color and the new fabric - ALOT!

I have a sewing rocker that is a bit similar to this style and her once velvety seat is now worn thin. I've often thought about just covering over it too, yet keep it there, but I don't know if I can bring myself to painting her, even though the flower carving at the top would be so much prettier! Ooooh, you have tempted me...

    1. Thank you! I'm so in love with that Annie Sloan paint. It's a delight to use and the colours are so easy to decorate with.
